Lyfe Hotels Elevates Shailesh Shekhar to Cluster Executive Chef

Lyfe Hotels Bhubaneswar has elevated Shailesh Shekhar to Cluster Executive Chef. Shekhar joined the hotel as Executive Chef in June 2023 and brings 27 years of hospitality experience, according to industry reporting.

His new responsibilities extend across culinary operations, including menu development, food safety, cost management, culinary training and guest experience.

A cluster-level culinary position involves responsibilities that go beyond managing an individual kitchen. The role can require the leader to maintain consistency across outlets, establish food quality standards, develop chefs and supervisors, and ensure that financial controls support the business.

Food cost management is particularly important in hotel operations. Effective purchasing, inventory control, portion management and waste reduction can protect profitability without compromising the quality guests expect.

Training is equally significant. A strong culinary leader must develop team members who can maintain standards during busy services, handle food safely and work collaboratively with other departments.

Why this matters: Culinary leadership is not only about creating menus. It combines creativity, financial discipline, team development and consistent execution.
